Venues: Woodwinds & Wright Mill Farm

Yesterday Mark and I went down to Branford, CT to check out the next venue. It is called The Woodwinds. I really liked all the pictures i had seen online. I couldn't wait to check it out in person. The venue it self looked beautiful, not to mention all the grounds and photo opportunities. After touring the venue Mark, Jo Anne and I all sat down to talk about the different packages. They are all reasonably prices AND my date is currently available! Here are some pictures from the venue.

This is the foyer outside of the ballroom where the cocktail hour would be held. They also said that it opens onto the patio. They lock the ballroom doors so that no one can go inside until the start of the reception.

Here is the smaller ballroom that we would have. I LOVE the crystal chandeliers, and the chairs. It is an elegant room. Plus all the uplighting come already in the room. When i took this pic the room was set up for a Bar Mitzvah, which is why the colors are bright blue.

This is the other side of the room, the dance floor. The head table is where that small table would be, they said they put the cake over by the fireplace, and the DJ/Band would be in the left corner of the dance floor. Right off the ballroom there are private patios, which have a fireplace that they will turn on during the wedding. It will allow the guests to go in and out as they want.

Mom was not able to see this venue, so today we are going back so she can see it. I will take more pictures, and be sure to post those later on.

Next on our stop was a venue called Wright Mills Farm in Canturbury, CT. For this venue we picked mom up on the way. It was quite the drive. From where i live it was 47 minutes. The highway part is not the problem. Once you get off the high way it is 11 miles of windy, narrow back roads. Mom, and Mark were feeling sick on the way there and back! Imagine how the guests would feel. But nonetheless...the packages were good deals, and from the video i saw online, the outdoor photo opportunities were beautiful too. Of course currently it is buried under lots of snow! But here are some pictures from the venue. It was set on a farm, and everything is very rustic.

This is a picture of the bar...It is the little hole in the wall. There is a similar one on the other side of the room too.

This is where the DJ of Band could go. Up on the stage

Here is a picture of the whole room...where you can see the vaulted celings. Online i really liked it, but in person the room just felt too tall.

Here is a look at the whole space but not being able to see the vaulted ceiling. Also...I hate the chairs!

Take a look at the venues i had visited Last Weekend.
