My Kind of Christmas

Image
I have been reading this book since Christmas, and I finally finished. It's not that it was boring, I just never had time to sit and read! But anyways...the story is about 23 year old Anggie who was in med school when she was in a very serious car accident. She decided to take some time off and go to the little secluded town of Virgin River and spend Christmas alone while she decides what to do with her future. Then there is Patrick, in the navy who saw his best friend get killed. He's 30 years old and decides to take some time off to recover. He goes to the same little town. You can guess what happens next...of course the two meet and start to form some sort of twisted relationship. Patrick has already decided that he has to dedicate his life to his best friends widow. It is known between Patrick and Anggie that Patrick was going to be with the widow on Christmas. When it came time for him to leave...does he stick with his plan to leave or does he stick with Anggie?? Read to f

Trip to VT

Yesterday Mark and I drove 4.5 hrs up to VT for his bowling tournament. We left as soon as we were done with work and arrived right around 6pm. Not bad! Last night we just relaxed, went out to dinner, went in the hot tub and watched tv. Today we went to breakfast and then when we got back to the room I finished all my work so I could enjoy the rest of today and tomorrow without worrying about getting it done. Now it's onto working back to my pen pal for Hawaii, sending emails regarding the wedding and starting my new book!

Myrtle Beach

Back in March Mark had about a week left of vacation, and if he didn’t use it up, he would lose it. So we tried to find a place that was kinda warm, but that we could still drive to and that wouldn’t be super expensive to stay at for a week. While I was at the gym (when living in my old apartment) I thought about Myrtle Beach. Neither Mark nor I had ever been. I started to look up room rates, and they were very reasonable, and most of the hotels there had kitchens so we could buy and bring our own food to save money. The hotel we stayed at was called the Polynesian Beach Resort. We stayed for 7 nights, and we drove al the way down there. The full 14 hours. On the way down i drove 12 out of the 14, and drove through the night and through a snow storm. It was long, but it was an experience. We didnt have that great of weather when we were down there. Only 2 of the days was very warm and sunny, so we made sure to find other things to do in the area on the rainy/cold d

Venues: Woodwinds & Wright Mill Farm

Image
Yesterday Mark and I went down to Branford, CT to check out the next venue. It is called The Woodwinds. I really liked all the pictures i had seen online. I couldn't wait to check it out in person. The venue it self looked beautiful, not to mention all the grounds and photo opportunities. After touring the venue Mark, Jo Anne and I all sat down to talk about the different packages. They are all reasonably prices AND my date is currently available! Here are some pictures from the venue.  This is the foyer outside of the ballroom where the cocktail hour would be held. They also said that it opens onto the patio. They lock the ballroom doors so that no one can go inside until the start of the reception.  Here is the smaller ballroom that we would have. I LOVE the crystal chandeliers, and the chairs. It is an elegant room. Plus all the uplighting come already in the room. When i took this pic the room was set up for a Bar Mitzvah, which is why the colors are bright blue.

Wedding Venues

Today Mark, Mom, Dad and I went and took a tour of two wedding venues in the area. The first one that we toured was the Mystic Marriott. It was beautiful. One thing that i love about there is that everything is right there. The guests wouldnt have to travel to the hotel, all they would do after the reception is go to the elevator. I also enjoy that there is an atendent from the hotel who is in charge of making your wedding go as smoothly as possible. Mark and I have reviewed the different menu options, and there is one that we like and think would be a good choice. Here are a few pictures of the ball room, and the hallway "cocktail hour" that they will set up for the guests. Plus the ballroom has its own seperate entrance. This is the ballroom where the reception would be held. I am not sure how i feel about the bright red carpet. Amanda (woman giving us the tour) says that onc you get all the decorations in, you really dont notice it.  The lighting fixtures in the
