Stacks are doing Vegas: Day 1

Image
Tuesday May 30th, we flew into vegas. Today was the first day, so we checked into where we were staying: Southview at Las Vegas. It was off the strip, but it was right next to the bowling ally which was nice. We had to take care of a few bowling things first, and then we all got into the cars and went to Walmart. I knew i would be wanting healthy snacks, so we picked out things that would help me in my process, as well as a meal to cook for dinner one night, and all breakfast and lunch items. Mark also picked out his unhealthy snacks. After walmart we relaxed int her room for a bit. Around 730 we headed out to the old strip AKA Fremont Street. We decided to drive there, and found a lot to park in right off the highway. First we walked around just taking it all in. Then i was hungry for dinner, and had saved my points, so we were trying to find a restaurant to go to. Mark suggested we go into the Golden Nugget casino and find one in there. So we did! And it was delicious! Here are ou

Stacks are Dinning Out: Charlie's Place

Originally this week Mark had picked number "9" and I had picked out a place. However the place was about 45 minutes away, and the only day we could go, Mark was working until 7:30. So i switched it with the week after which is number "1" On page 1 were restaurants from Niantic, so we decided to go to Charlies Place in Niantic, CT. I once again picked out my meal ahead of time. I decided on the coconut breaded chicken with asparagus and jasmine rice (my favorite!) with a side of sweet and sour sauce. I guessed my meal was about 18 points.  Mark ended up getting the moussaka with béchamel sauce. We both loved our meals! Stacks are Dinning Out: The Hideaway

For this week Mark picked number "5" On page 5 were restaurants in Old Lyme, Clinton, and Chester. We were not able to go until around 6 when Mark got out of work, so we figured we would pick a place close by, so Old Lyme it is!  The Hideaway in Old Lyme  The restaurant was a 16 minute drive from moms house, which is where we have been staying.  When we first got there the hostess seemed a bit upset that we did not have a reservation, but they sat us over in a corner together.  I had already picked out my meal which was a sesame chicken stiry fry with rice on the side. I guess my meal to be about 11 points. What i did not plan for was that my meal came with a salad. So i got a small side caesar salad, which i guessed was around 4.  Mark got a dish i had last time i was there: tortellini pesto Alfredo with bacon. I had a bite, and it was so good!   Here are our pictures from the evening!  Mark and I at dinner My sesame chicken-however there w

Closing on Fog Plain: Stacks have moved

Last Friday was a very tough day for me. Well...lets face it, the whole week leading up to it was tough. I spent most of my nights crying, thinking of all the memories we had in the home, and how we were leaving it behind. I knew it was the right thing to do, but it didn't make it any easier. Thursday night was our last night in the house. Mom had come over after work to help grab stuff for her house. But when it was time for her to leave, we both realized i didn't want to be left alone. So she stayed with me until Mark got home. Once Mark got home we made a trip to Moms of stuff, and sat for a few minutes to watch the Celtics lose. After that we headed home, one last time. We worked a bit on the house, gathering things together so we would hopefully have an easier time int he AM. We went out to the screen porch to remove the christmas lights i had strung there only a few months after moving in. I had originally put them up for a special 1 year anniversary dinner i was m

For this week Mark picked number "13"  However, due to the fact that we only have 2 nights left in our home, and we still have packing to get done, we decided to switch to page "2" and pick a place in Waterford. If I GPS the restaurant from our current home it says: 2 minute drive. So perfect! Mark wasn't going to be out until 7:30, so by the time he got home, and we get there it will be 8 PM. So a late dinner for us. But this is the best day this week for us to do it.  I had been here many times with a good friend of mine, but i always got one of the same two things, either the caesar salad or the New England clam chowder. She always got the polenta bites. We always enjoyed the food, but it was time to try something new! Plus this was Marks first time going there.  Restaurant menu  Mark looking very tired after a long day at work and hours spent packing  I got the chicken with an asparagus broth, mashed pota
