Beach House Memories

Image
I just finished the second book in the Beach House trilogy by Mary Alice Monroe. Now, in the first book, there is mention of an affair that happened about 30 years ago. I remember thinking when i read the first book, that i would like to read more about that love affair. Beach House Memories is a story told by Lovie, the main character, going back to the summer of 1974, where she met Russell Bennett, the love of her life. The story is about the summer they shared together, and the relationship that they built. It also showed more into her relationship with her husband who turns abusive towards her. The book even takes you through the death of her lover. There was something that i wish the book had covered. In the first book she tells her daughter that after the death of Russell, his attorney shows up and tells Lovie that Russell had left her the land where their dune sat, which is where they fell in love. I would have liked this book to cover that, because i would have enjoyed reading

Very Wet Weekends-Camping!

Last weekend we went camping for my Mom's birthday. We heard that there was rain coming in last Saturday night into Sunday. Our plan was to hang out and we could pack up on Sunday. Well, it started to rain far earlier then the weather man predicted. There was 5 of us huddled under the EZ up that we had over our picnic table. Later that night as the rain just got harder and harder, we decided to pack it up and head home. So in the pouring rain we packed everything up, soaking wet and packed it into the car. Since it was still my Mom's birthday we went right down the road to the Lyme "slime" tavern and we got a drink. This weekend we had reservations at a campground in RI. Rain was also due in the forecast Saturday night into Sunday. We said that we would play it by ear this time. At first we were going to stay until Sunday, then it started to rain a bit on Saturday, then stopped for a little while. I wasn't feeling well, and therefore we decided to pack up and h

Back Yard Pool

Every house i looked at with Mark and my realtor, the one thing i would always look at is if there was enough room in the back yard for a pool. Mark was always more into having a hot tub, but i really wanted a pool. I just think of those hot summer nights where it would be so nice to jump into a pool to cool off. I was at BJ's club store one day, and say those blue intex pools. They had a 12 foot for $78. I went home that night and asked Mark about it. We measured the back yard and decided the 12 foot was just a little bit too big. I went into walmart and saw that there was a 10 foot one, that was 2.5 feet high. That pool was $58. I had a VNA gift card that i had gotten for Christmas. So i decided to let the VNA pay for it :) So i bought the pool, and then it sat on my front porch for about a month before i did anything to prepare for it. I raked the back yard, put down weed killer, weed barrier, a tarp, sand, and then another tarp. I put the pool on top and then started to fil

Wedding Planning: DJ

Over the past three weeks or so Mark and I have been meeting with different DJ's. Below i will share some of our experiences that we encountered along the way. Jock in the Box First we met with Jock in the Box. Came highly recommended from our venue. We drove about 45 minutes to meet with this company. Todd, the owner, was already booked, and so was his next guy in line. So we were meeting with "guy #3" We arrive at their office, pretty cool! They had this room off to the right with leather chairs that you could recline back, and then they started a presentation. They had fresh made popcorn and offered us drinks. Their different packages start around 1495 and go up to about 1895 with different add ons that you can do as well. Powerstation We drove about 50 minutes up to meet with Todd from Powerstation. Now Powerstation is a company that not only has DJ, but photographers, photo booth, florist, make up and videographer. When we got there we were placed into a little
